SITS (Advanced)

What are the details of the course?

This is a two day course – Advanced SITS (Scaffolding Inspection Training Scheme). Because of its advanced nature, it is really only suitable for operatives with experience or supervisors/managers. It is a follow on from the SITS basic course.

What is the course content?

The course covers the following:

  • The regulations and codes which apply
  • How to interpret scaffolding design specifications
  • How to construct all kinds of complex scaffolds
  • Detecting faults when inspecting scaffolding structures
  • Reporting any problems with scaffolding

How is the course taught and assessed?

This course is taught by making use of classroom learning as well as practical exercises. It lasts for two days. Assessment takes place in the form of written and practical tests so your overall score will be based upon a mix of the two.

What qualification does the course provide?

Once you successfully complete the course, you will receive your CISRS Advanced Scaffolding Inspection Training Scheme (Advanced SITS) certificate.

What can I do to follow-on?

Once you have your Advanced SITS, you can move on to the CISRS Advanced Scaffold Inspection Card. This has to be done within 5 years of your pass date. In order to qualify to take the advanced course, you will also need to:

  • Currently have a CISRS Advanced Scaffolder Card
  • Have a Basic/Advance Inspection Certificate
  • Have held a CISRS Basic Inspector OR Scaffolder Card for 2 years

Entry requirements

In order to take the Advanced SITS course, you should already have your SITS Basic certificate and have the CISRS Advanced Scaffolder card or have held a CISRS Advanced Card for a minimum period of two years. In addition, you should have passed your CITB HS&E test within the past two years or hold one of the following certifications:

  • CCNSG Passport to Safety
  • FAS Safe Pass
  • NEBOSH certificate (within the past 2 years)
  • Offshore Survival certificate
  • SMSTS or SSSTS (within the past 2 years)
  • Finally, you will need a good understanding of verbal and written English.
