The course gives those attending a basic training and assessment in the operation and maintenance of telescopic handlers.
People taking this course will learn through practical exercises and classroom-based tutorials. There are theory and practical tests.
This course is aimed at both current and potential operators of telescopic handlers who have had no formal training. It is also suitable for people who need refreshment to their existing certification.

The course length differs depending on the candidates' level of experience. The course length is five days for inexperienced candidates, four days for novice candidates and three days for experienced operatives.
If you are successful, once you have completed the CPCS Technical Tests you will be awarded the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card. You will also be awarded the CITB National Construction College certificate.
You will need to have successfully completed a CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test in the last two years. You must also have a good knowledge of both written and spoken English.
