The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Refresher Course is spread over a two-day period and is aimed at providing an up-to-date understanding of the legal and regulatory changes that affect the daily management of construction sites. It enables management personnel to build safe working conditions for all members of staff.
The SMSTS Refresher Course is an interactive experience, with plenty of classroom discussion and debate, analysis of case studies and individual, as well as group presentations. Assessment is taken throughout the entire process, with a multiple-choice exam at the end of the two-day course.
Applicants for this course are management professionals, within the construction industry, looking to update their knowledge of construction site health and safety regulations and legislation.
Individuals who successfully complete the SMSTS Refresher Course will be awarded a CITB Site Safety Plus certificate.
Applicants to the SMSTS Refresher course must complete it before their existing SMSTS certification expires (within five years). If this is not achieved the full course will have to be retaken. Applicants must refresh their certification every five years and must have a good understanding of both spoken and written English.
Upon completion of the SMSTS Refresher Course, applicants may consider taking the NEBOSH Certificate in Construction Health and Safety or the Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS).
