CPCS A73 Vehicle Marshaller

What is the course?

This course has been specifically created to focus on CPCS A73 Vehicle Marshaller skills. If you are going to be looking after the movement of site vehicles, then it will provide you with detailed knowledge of the responsibilities and the role of a Plant and Vehicle Marshaller. It will focus on such things as preparation, communication, hazard control and work management traffic plans.

Course content

  • A detailed understanding of the responsibilities and the role of a Vehicle Marshaller
  • Legislation and required regulations
  • Stability limitations and factors, types of plant and hazard awareness
  • Traffic plans for work management
  • Understanding proximity hazards and safe positioning
  • Communicating safely and effectively
  • Vehicle movement and guidance of plant
  • Preparing for movement

How is the course taught and assessed?

This course comprises a mix of both practical hands-on exercises along with classroom studies. Final assessment is in the form of a theory exam and a practical test. These will take place whilst the course is being taught as well as at the end.

If you are responsible for the movement of vehicles on site or are looking to take on the role of a Plant and Vehicle Marshaller, then this course is ideally suited to you.

What qualifications will I receive?

Once you have successfully completed the course, you will receive:

  • CITB National Construction College certificate
  • Be eligible for a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card.

Entry requirements

In order to take part in the course, you should have already passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) test within the previous two years. It is also essential to have a good command of written and spoken English.

Once you have completed the course, you may want to consider moving onto other courses such as those for Excavator Banksman, Managing and Co-ordinating Plant or Slinger/Signaller.
